After a great dinner at Craig’s last weekend (see my blog post), I heard a lot about the breakfast here. Today I met my friends at Craig’s for a fantastic Sunday Brunch.
If you’re in the “know” at Craig’s a few things before you go.
Sunday’s are busy. We arrived at 11 AM with a lot of other hungry patrons. But that leads me to #2
If you get inside out of the cold, you will find a “self-service” coffee bar. The coffee bar option was perfect as we waited for our table.
If you’re “really in the know,” call ahead and request to have some fresh squeezed orange juice set aside. There are only so many oranges one can squeeze for a busy brunch.
Everything is made fresh and cooked to order. Keeping that in mind, if you show up for brunch mid-day don’t expect to have everything available on the menu and don’t expect things to fly out of the kitchen – did I mention everything is made fresh and cooked to order – this isn’t a McDonald’s drive-thru!
Families are most welcome. It was such a pleasure to see so many families and children and babies. It reminded me of a café in Italy where families often dine into the late evening hours. Families come and bring your kids!
Appetite – come hungry – the quality is at par with the quantity!
Although there was a wait, we enjoyed our fresh brewed flavored coffees and great conversation. The time went by quickly and within fifteen minutes, we were seated.
Our waitress very attentive and pleasant brought us our “reserved” fresh squeezed orange juice as we sat down. She took our orders, and we enjoyed the aromas coming from the kitchen and the lively “vibe” throughout the restaurant. It’s nice when you can feed your stomach and your soul with such positive energy.
Our breakfast!
I ordered the “Number 1 Breakfast Plate” from the breakfast menu. It came with two eggs (I chose scrambled with cheddar), and a choice of bacon, ham or sausage, I chose the sausage. There was an option for homemade corned beef, but they were out – will have to come back and get some of that! The breakfast continued with a choice of pancakes or French toast all served with home fries. I opted for the pancakes (served with real maple syrup) and traded the home fries for whole wheat toast. After finishing plate #1, I moved onto the pancakes – barely I ate about ¼ they served two massive pancakes – cooked perfectly.
My friends ordered:
The Breakfast Nachos served with steak tips from the special menu
The McCourty Breakfast Sandwich from the special menu (super bowl themed)
A special Edelman’s Potatoes Skin Benedict (super bowl themed)
Looking forward to my next visit when I hope to get a taste of the homemade corned beef hash!
