The Cottage

Located on the edge of Mirror Lake, at the Mirror Lake Inn, in Lake Placid, NY, the Cottage has been a long-time establishment offering a breathtaking view, with a warm and welcome atmosphere.

A distinctive spot, the Cottage is not a big place, but it makes up for that with a large open room. An open ceiling with exposed beams, it gives an airy atmosphere yet not too open. It's a beautiful balance; it makes you feel like you're in an Adirondack cabin. Although there is additional seating available on the deck during warmer months, I prefer to grab the most of my experience eating inside. During cooler/cold months, often you will find a roaring fire pit ablaze keeping those waiting for a table while enjoying the view and a cocktail. There is a small bar as you enter and is an optional dining spot if the tables are full.

The menu is eclectic and changes with the seasons. There are lunch and dinner options. The presentation and quality of food are exemplary! On my recent visit, my friend and I enjoyed a Negroni cocktail (made correctly). I started with a roasted squash soup which was amazing. My friend had the Warm Brussels Sprouts Salad, roasted brussels sprouts; Applewood smoked bacon, crisp apple, toasted pecans tossed in a white balsamic caper vinaigrette. I enjoyed The Cobble Hill sandwich served with New York sharp cheddar and sliced apple on hearty grain bread with cranberry mayonnaise. Never does the Cottage make a patron feel rushed, just sit back, enjoy the atmosphere and the view.

No visit to Lake Placid is complete without a stop at the Cottage! After lunch or dinner, take a stroll around the lake, there is a sidewalk that goes the entire perimeter. The walk is level and about 3 miles – an excellent way to walk off lunch or dinner.
