A Three Course Breakfast?

This restaurant is thriving despite its location, location, location. I’ve been going there for many years. This is one of those “destination” restaurants and no better time to make this a destination than on the same day we planned a visit to an apple orchard in southern New Hampshire.

If you go, expect a wait, but they have you covered. Covered with many outdoor seating options nestled under trees and outside an adjacent store (more than a gift store). It’s all part of the experience. They are true to their word, if they say 30, 45 or 60 minutes, you can go for a walk on the property, or along the adjacent country road. You should be able to hear your name called over loudspeakers throughout the property.

Inside is an open dining room, heated in the colder months by a wood burning stove. It all works into the magic that’s Parker Maple Barn Restaurant. The menu is expansive as are the portions. Known for their homemade maple syrup (sugar house on the property) and amazing pancakes (huge variety), there are ample choices for breakfast and later in the day lunch.

On a recent visit with my friend, we enjoyed the appetizer “Sampler” which included donut holes, blueberry bites, and cinnamon rolls (three each). Wow, what a treat! From the menu, I chose the Parker Maple Barn Special: two eggs (scrambled with cheddar), two sausage, two bacon, and ham, and home fries. And then… there was a second plate of two large pancakes. I chose the daily special – apple cider! I wish I could say I ate everything but I only made it through a 1/3 of the pancakes. My friend ordered the sirloin steak and eggs, eggs were fried, and both plates came with toast. I stand by my title (three courses) as the pancakes were another course, eaten after my breakfast!

They offered us an exceptional roast coffee, maple. It was similar to a hazelnut but slightly different (sorry that’s the best I can do to describe). In the store, they also have Keurig™ K-cups™ and sold a variety “Maple Bacon!”

Along the way is a covered bridge worth stopping to take a picture or two.
