A Mandatory Stop at Paddy's

Paddy’s Irish Pub & Restaurant

On a recent trip to Bar Harbor, I made what I consider a mandatory stop at Paddy’s. I enjoyed a wonderful lunch at the bar tended by “Bones” and “Kevin”. Both were full of fun and kept the bar well in humor and fun. One small thing the establishment might consider, a “change” in music, as in not an issue playing Irish music, but the loop is too short. A few patrons were on "shore leave" from one of the two cruise ships docked in the harbor for the day.

Located on the street level of the West Street Hotel, Paddy’s opens “literally” onto Bar Harbor. The majority of the glass wall facing the street opens on a nice day to ample outside dining options with gas fired heaters for cooler days/evenings. The fact that the wall opens, patrons don’t lose the charm of this fine establishment. No cost was spared on the beautiful décor – one would feel as though they stepped into a pub off St Steven’s Green or Temple Bar in Dublin, Ireland.

I had a nice cold, perfectly poured, Guinness. Something one would expect with the name Paddy’s but often, some bars do not know how to properly pour a Guinness. Well done fellas!

Looking over the menu, I treated myself to the STOUT BURGER, a Guinness Basted Half-Pound Certified Angus Beef, Stout Battered Onion Rings, Irish Cheddar, Toasted Pretzel Bun, Mayonnaise. The burger came with an option of French fries or coleslaw. I rarely have meat but this was truly a treat!
