A long-time establishment in Duxbury, Bongi’s Turkey Roast offers fresh and cooked turkeys. About seventy-five years ago, newlyweds, Tony, and Anna Bongiorno moved to Duxbury purchasing about seven acres and establishing a chicken business. They raised and sold chickens switching to turkeys after WWII. Bongi’s opened in 1947 right where it is today. Back then, before the highway, travelers heading to the cape would use Route 53 driving past Bongi’s. Many made it a tradition to stop for chicken box lunch or turkey pot pie on their way to the Cape. Today Bongi's has an extensive menu offering items from sandwiches, salads and side dishes to fresh and frozen turkey and chicken pot pies, fried chicken, stuffed chicken breasts and whole roasted turkeys. As the title says, it’s a good think when the lights are on knowing Bongi’s is open. Bongi’s also offers homemade bread and pies. The family run business offers friendly and attentive service. If you order a roast turkey don’t forget to bring a roasting pan to keep your car clean – they’ll remind you when to call to order. Below is an image of the turkey pot pie, as you can see it's filled with meat and vegetables with a flaky crust.
